Daniel Gordis’s Israel: A Concise History of a Nation Reborn is now available in Persian, translated by Yasser Qorashi. It is the first title Rahee Foundation has brought out.
The translation is complete. Nothing was removed to make the book easier to distribute, and nothing was added to make it easier to accept.
We chose this book because the gap it fills is unusually clean. Persian readers have had access to a great deal of writing about Israel, and almost none of it written from outside a single position. Gordis’s book is not neutral — no history of this subject is — but it is sourced, it is argued in the open, and a reader can take it apart. That is the minimum condition for thinking about something, and it is what has been missing.
